Guided Tour for Children, Teenagers & School groups

Cologne Cathedral – a masterpiece and a major construction site. Begun 777 years ago, it was only provisionally completed after 632 years. Perhaps some of you might initially think: “Cool, but also quite old and a bit boring.” Our guides would love to prove you wrong and show you why the Cathedral is so much more than just a building. It is a place steeped in history, reminding us in the midst of today’s ever-accelerating world that some stories are timeless.

The story of the Three Kings alone is full of fascinating details. Starting with the biblical account of the Magi from the East, who became the Three Kings, through to the precious relics that once found their way from Milan to Cologne as spoils of war. The Shrine of the Three Kings was created for them; crafted from the finest materials, it continues to house this treasure to this day – and ultimately, the idea was to create a stone protective shell with the construction of the Gothic cathedral.

And there are many more fascinating anecdotes to be told about the building and its artworks.
